Using your handmade luxury reed diffuser for the first time is simple – it doesn’t require electricity or matches and will be ready in minutes. To make the process even easier, we’ll take you through it step by step in this guide. Reed diffusers have three main elements: an elegant glass bottle, carefully formulated fragrance oil combined with a liquid base to make it runnier, and a handful of slim reeds. 

You can display one almost anywhere; a reed diffuser is compact enough to sit in a corner yet attractive enough to be a centrepiece. Try putting yours in your hallway, kitchen or bathroom – the captivating scent will circulate best in a well-ventilated, busy space. Avoid placing reed diffusers in areas exposed to direct sunlight, breezes and heat; otherwise the fragrance oil will evaporate too quickly. Also keep them away from children and pets.

You could place your reed diffuser’s bottle on a tray or coaster to protect the surface it’ll be standing on. The next step is to remove the cap and unseal the bottle (taking a moment to enjoy the fabulous scent emanating from the fragrance oil it contains!) then put the cap back on.

As there’s an opening in the cap, you can easily place the reeds in the bottle (its narrow neck will support them); we recommend using them all at once. Our superior black fibre reeds complement many different interiors and provide a strong scent throw (in other words, they disperse the fragrance particularly effectively).

You can arrange the reeds as if you were arranging flowers in a vase (though our reed diffusers last much longer than any bouquet – up to 12 weeks, in fact). Now let your reed diffuser sit for several minutes or more. You could make a cup of tea, enjoy a relaxing bath or walk the dog while the reeds start to soak up the fragrance oil. They’re porous, so the oil is easily absorbed then drawn upwards.

When the lower part of the reeds is saturated, carefully turn each reed upside down, return them all to the bottle – and let diffusion work its magic! In a nutshell, now the saturated areas are in contact with the air, the fragrance oil will evaporate from the reeds’ tips, allowing sublime scent particles to spread through your room. The fragrance will reach its optimum level within about 24 hours.
